What is Flux Kontext Pro?

Flux Kontext is Black Forest Labs' family of in-context image models, released in May 2025. Instead of generating from scratch, Kontext reads the image you give it together with your instruction, so "make it night" or "change the sign to OPEN" changes exactly that and keeps the rest of the frame.

Pro is the main tier: fast enough to iterate, and strong at the things editors struggle with, such as replacing text inside an image in the same font and keeping a character recognisable over many edits in a row.

On ImageFX, Flux Kontext Pro edits one input image, or generates from text alone, in seven shapes or matching your input.

How to use Flux Kontext Pro

Flux Kontext Pro is already loaded in the generator at the top of this page. Four steps from prompt to download.

Write the prompt
Write the edit as one instruction: what to change, and what to keep ("Change the car to red; keep the street and the people"). Quote any text you want to appear. For a series, make one change per run and edit the result again.

Start from an image (optional)
Switch to Image to Image and upload one PNG or JPG of up to 10 MB; Flux Kontext Pro works from it and the prompt says what to change or keep.

Pick the shape
Choose Square (1:1), Widescreen (16:9), Portrait (9:16), Standard (4:3), Portrait (3:4), Photo (3:2) or Portrait Photo (2:3).

Fine-tune (optional)
Flux Kontext Pro also takes a seed here. The seed is under More Options: reuse one with an edited prompt to change one thing while keeping the rest close.

Kontext Pro edits one image per run. To combine photos, use Nano Banana 2 or Seedream 4.5.

Big changes in steps

Several changes in one instruction can blur together. Do them one by one and edit the result.

Stricter with uploads

Black Forest Labs applies stricter content filters when an input image is used, so some edits of real photos are refused.
